The Dallas Cowboys have unveiled their first unofficial depth chart of the 2024 season after two weeks of training camp.

This preliminary chart, ahead of the team's preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams , offers fans an early look at player standings, though it is subject to change.

Despite the chart's tentative nature, several notable takeaways have emerged. One significant highlight is the wide receiver position.

Third-year player Jalen Tolbert is listed as a starter alongside veterans Brandin Cooks and CeeDee Lamb , assuming Lamb rejoins the team. Tolbert’s performance in camp has been impressive, outshining other receivers like Tyron Billy-Johnson and Jalen Cropper. The depth in this position, including contributions from Jalen Brooks and the versatile Kavontae Turpin, underscores the competitive atmosphere.

The offensive line also presents an interesting scenario. While the starting lineup includes veterans like Chuma Edoga at left tackle and Brock Hoffman at center, high draft picks Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe are currently listed as backups.

Guyton, a first-round pick, missed some time due to illness but still has a chance to overtake Edoga. Beebe, favored during draft night, struggles with snapping out of the shotgun, hindering his starting prospects.

Also, Cooper Rush is the No. 2 QB behind Dak Prescott and ahead of Trey Lance. And Ezekiel Elliott is the top running back ahead of Rico Dowdle - who by the way is listed as the "other'' kickoff returner alongside KaVontae Turpin and ahead of Deuce Vaughn.

On defense, the linebacker position shows surprising strength. Rookie Marist Liufau is listed as a starter over second year DeMarvion Overshown , who is recovering from an ACL injury.

Liufau, a third-round pick, has impressed with his football IQ and physicality, justifying the Cowboys’ confidence in him.

It’s worth noting that these positions reflect preseason starters, not regular season guarantees. This strategy may be aimed at preventing injuries to key players, as evidenced by the season-ending injury to Sam Williams , still listed as the second-team defensive end despite his absence.

As the Cowboys gear up for their first preseason game, fans should expect this depth chart to evolve. The initial placements offer a glimpse into the coaching staff's current evaluations and strategic considerations.
