Dan Morgan has told anyone who would listen, he would be aggressive on the waiver wire. He stuck to his guns, and on Tuesday the Carolina Panthers claimed defensive back Caden Sterns off of waivers from the Denver Broncos. In a corresponding move Carolina waived/injured offensive guard J.D. DiRenzo.

Sterns will be reunited with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, who served as Denver’s coordinator during the 2022 season. Evero has tried to bring in players who have played in his scheme. Sterns was drafted by Denver in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft, following a stellar career at the University of Texas. He enjoyed a solid rookie campaign, but has dealt with injuries over the past two years. He will come to Carolina with a fresh start, and hopes that he can provide depth after the loss of Sam Franklin.

The Panthers go to New England this week for a Thursday night pre-season matchup versus the New England Patriots.
