Rashee Discusses Growing Chemistry With Mahomes

    By Wil Riggs,

The Kansas City Chiefs receiver corps is young and incredibly fast. ... building in part on last season, when then-rookie Rashee Rice emerged as a weapon for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Rice would catch 79 passes for 938 yards and seven touchdowns his rookie season.

At training camp, the second-year receiver believes that the connection between himself and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is getting upgraded.

“I feel like our chemistry is going to continue to grow,” Rice said. “I feel like it’s been growing throughout the offseason and as well as during this camp right now. All we are looking forward to is to continue to grow and just get better – whether it’s preseason, regular season, or even playoffs.”

Rice really came on during the second half of last season, posting two 100-yard receiving games in the final six contests. He carried that over with a huge divisional win over the Dolphins when he caught eight passes for 130 yards and a touchdown against Miami.

The Chiefs drafted speedster Xavier Worthy out of Texas in the first round this year and signed Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in free agency. Rice feels like it’s his place to help all rise.

“Honestly, the next step for me is to bring the guys around me up.” said Rice, “You know we got X (Xavier Worthy) here, so whatever I learned last year, he needs to learn right now so that we can continue to grow together.”

Worthy, Brown and others on this "track team'' could get a lot of balls thrown their way in the wake of potential suspension for Rice for a pair of incidents in Dallas earlier this year.

With the veteran leadership of Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, the Chiefs should be able to weather the storm just fine.
