Breanna Stewart Delivers Crystal Clear Opinion On Pressure After Team USA-Nigeria Showdown

Breanna Stewart and Team USA inched closer to their ultimate goal of winning gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics after taking down Nigeria in the quarterfinals, 88-74.

Stewart, just like in Team USA’s previous games, delivered the goods on the court, as she generated 13 points on a 5-for-7 shooting from the floor, five boards, and three assists in 19 minutes. Her efficiency on offense and presence on defense made a tremendous impact on Team USA, which relied on its size and incredible depth to overcome Nigeria’s challenge.

But the job is far from done for Team USA. After the Nigeria game, Stewart acknowledged the pressure that comes with being the top-ranked team in the world.

"[The USA program] It's the gold standard as we expect to go and win gold,” Stewart said (via FIBA’s website ).

“We know that everything leading up to this was hugely important. We know that we carry a lot because of those who have played before us."

As a two-time Olympic gold medalist, Stewart surely knows what it takes to bring home the top prize, and it’s more than just having the best talent in the field.

Team USA will have a rest day on Thursday before locking horns with Australia in the semifinal round on Friday.
