Following an 11-year NFL career, former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Nick Foles is hanging up his cleats and shoulder pads. As first reported by Ari Meirov , the former Philadelphia Eagles third-round pick will be retiring.

Foles, 35, played just one season in Kansas City and made just one start in three appearances. Foles threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns while completing 65.5 percent of his passes in one season with the Chiefs .

However, the most notable stint of his career came with the Eagles in 2017, where following then-starting quarterback Carson Wentz's knee injury in Week 14, Foles was thrust into action as their starter. For most teams, losing their starting quarterback would be the end of any hopes of making a deep playoff run.

Yet, that year, the Eagles weren't like most teams. Rather, with Foles leading the way, the Eagles beat the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings on their way to Super Bowl LII, where they faced off with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

The Cinderella-esque story of Foles that postseason didn't stop there, as he completed 28 of his 43 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns with just one interception. In addition to making the historic "Philly Special" touchdown catch that not only helped seal the 41-33 win over the Patriots but secured Foles the Super Bowl MVP.

Now, seven years later, Foles will be ending his career in the place it started, Philadelphia. According to Meirov , Foles will retire as a member of the Eagles and make it "official" during their Week 2 game at home versus the Atlanta Falcons.
