When the typical person gets diagnosed with COVID-19, they hole up in their house with flu-like symptoms and don't move for a few days.

U.S. sprinter Noah Lyles goes out and wins a bronze medal.

Lyles finished in third place in the 200m final at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which was a relatively disappointing result at first glance. However, it was confirmed shortly after the race that Lyles was diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier this week, and he decided to run despite being under the weather.

It was clear that he wasn't feeling 100%, as he had a lackluster finish in his semi-final heat, and was seen wearing a mask around when not running. After the 200m final, Lyles sat down on the track and asked for medical officials to come help him. He was eventually taken off the track in a wheelchair.

It was Bostwana's Letsile Tebogo who finished first in the 200m final, and America's Kenny Bednarek who finished in second.

Once the COVID diagnosis was made public for Lyles, fans took to social media to react to the news in real-time. Here are some of the reactions that we saw:

Lyles was originally scheduled to run in the 4x100m relay later this week at the Olympics, but we will now see what he decides to do as he continues to deal with this illness.
