The Houston Oilers uniforms are still one of the most iconic looks in NFL history, but there's still a hot debate going on about which current franchise should be allowed to wear them as an alternate throwback set.

What was once the Oilers franchise is now the Tennessee Titans, having relocated from Houston in 1997. But the NFL returned to Houston with a new team in 2002, as the Texans joined the league.

The Titans are technically the actual franchise that moved, so they're the team that now wears the Oilers throwback uniforms once a year. But there are plenty of folks who still believe those uniforms belong to the city of Houston, and not the team that moved away.

So, who should be the rightful owner of these legendary threads, and how to we settle the debate?

Well, former Titans and current Texans players recently met up to discuss the issue, and it looks like they might have a creative solution that would be quite entertaining for players and fans alike:

A Week 1 showdown between division rivals every year to decide who gets to wear the Oilers uniforms for the second matchup later that same season?
