The Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, uniting him with his father, LeBron James, at the professional level.

This decision resulted in a mixed bag of reactions from NBA fans. Some feel the former USC guard is ready to contribute in the Lakers' rotation. Others believe he was selected solely because of his family connections.

The Lakers reportedly have a plan for Bronny's development in Year 1.

The second-round rookie will play primarily in the G League this coming NBA season, according to league insider Jovan Buha of The Athletic.

"And though Bronny James had an impressive end to summer league, at least by his modest expectations, the Lakers plan on using him primarily in the G League as he remains far from a rotation-caliber player," Buha reports.

The Lakers' reported decision to take a patient approach with Bronny is no surprise. The organization clearly believes in his potential as an eventual rotation contributor, but he still needs quite a bit of development before he starts to notch any meaningful playing time.

Bronny got off to a rough start in the 2024 Summer League, but finished strong as a key player for the Lakers' offseason squad. In their final game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the eldest son of LeBron notched 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Whenever Bronny does take the court in his rookie season, he and LeBron will form the first father-son duo in NBA history.
