ACC Bowl Projections for 2024

With the 2024 college football season less than 20 days away, it's never too early to project the bowls and playoff contenders for the expanded 17-team ACC. Florida State, Clemson, and Miami are the early frontrunners to win the conference in '24, but the league is wide open with no dominant team expected to emerge this fall. Although the ACC has quality depth, the lack of a dominant team could hurt for positioning in the CFB Playoff and getting more than one program into the new 12-team setup. Athlon Sports projects 12 ACC teams to reach the postseason and only one to make the CFB Playoff.

Athlon Sports released its complete preseason bowl projections earlier this offseason, so let's take a look at how the predictions stack up for where ACC teams will spend their postseason:

The Order of Selections for 2024

1. College Football Playoff

Note: Due to conference expansion, former Pac-12 teams will only be selected for bowls tied to the league last season. This includes Alamo, Holiday, Las Vegas, Sun, Los Angeles, and Independence Bowls.

The Projections for 2024-25

College Football Playoff
The new 12-team CFB Playoff field features five automatic bids to conference champions and seven at-large selections. The four highest-rated conference champs will receive a bye in the first round.
