At times, Aaron Rodgers can seem smug like a man with all the answers. But, behind the scenes, he deals with a dysfunctional family dynamic like a lot of Americans.

It's no secret that the New York Jets ' quarterback has a sketchy relationship with his parents, Ed and Darla. But that chasm seemingly closed a smidge recently when Rodgers saw his father at the American Century Championship golf tournament at Lake Tahoe.

He's also opening up about his situation in a new book: Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers . According to author Ian O’Connor, that meeting at the American Century Championship was the first interaction Rodgers had with his father since 2014.

Rodgers said he pondered again avoiding his father, but instead took a step toward reconciliation.

“I could do a lot of things,” Rodgers said in the book, via the New York Post . “But I just thought, ‘What’s best in this moment, and what kind of gift could I give him?’ Because I do love him. I don’t have animosity toward him, even with all the stuff that’s been said and done.”

    So how'd the encounter go?
