Steph Curry helped pull Team USA back from the brink and into the gold medal game at the Paris Olympics -- and made history in doing so.

The Golden State Warriors guard poured in 36 points to lead the United States from down 17 points against a scrappy Serbian team led by two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic. Curry made two late free throws to seal the 95-91 win.

Curry connected on 12 of his 19 shots, including 9 of his 14 from behind the three-point arc.

Though Curry came within one point of Carmelo Anthony's U.S. Olympic record of 37 points set in a 2012 blowout against Nigeria, Curry did set the record for most points in an elimination game in U.S. men's basketball Olympic history. He also set the record for most points in a single game across the Paris Olympics so far.

Curry was clutch down the final stretch, making a late layup to put the United States up by 5 points and later nailing a pair of free throws that put the United States up 95-91 with 8 seconds remaining.

After the final horn sounded, Curry and teammate LeBron James had an emotional celebration as they moved to within one win of Team USA's fifth straight gold medal.
