2 Huskers make 2024 ‘Freaks List’

A couple of Nebraska Cornhuskers football players are being highlighted for their athletic ability.

The Athletic ’s Bruce Feldman this week released his 2024 edition of the “Freaks List,” which doesn’t focus on the best football players but rather the most athletic.

Two Huskers made Feldman’s list this year: cornerback Tommi Hill and linebacker Vince Genatone.

Hill moved to corner full-time last season and recorded 26 tackles, nine pass breakups and four interceptions, earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention.

This year, the senior is Nebraska’s top corner and figures to play a big role for the defense.

Genatone, a redshirt sophomore from North Platte, spent the past two seasons at Montana before joining the Big Red this offseason.

Feldman notes that Genatone won Nebraska’s 220-pound Class A high school wrestling title and ran a 10.5 100-meter dash. Rhule said this offseason, the sophomore broad-jumped 11 feet, vertical-jumped 38.5 inches and had a max velocity of 21.46 mph despite being 230 pounds.

He may not play a big role for the Huskers this season but certainly has the athleticism to contribute if the coaches can help that talent.

Feldman also mentioned (but didn’t rank) Huskers redshirt freshman defensive back Jeremiah Charles as a player to watch, highlighting his ability in track and field in addition to football. Charles, a former wide receiver, is now among those competing for playing time at cornerback.
