New England Patriots football is back! The 2024 NFL season is officially here as the Patriots first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers is underway.

Rookie sixth round pick Joe Milton III took the field with around 4 minutes left in the third quarter and immediately hit fellow rookie Javon Baker for a 5-yard completion:

He would then complete a third down bootleg to undrafted rookie Terrell Jennings to keep the drive alive:

On the ensuing set of downs, he gave the crowd his loudest cheer of the night when he scrambled around in the backfield and escaped pressure for a first down run that went for 12 yards:

Milton's first drive extended through the end of the third quarter as he brought the team inside the 30-yard line, starting the drive 3 for 3 for 16 yards.

He began the third quarter on the same drive with a dangerous pass across the field that nearly went for what would likely have been a pick-six:

On the ensuing third down, Milton had a good throw that was dropped by Kayshon Boutte, leading to a Joey Slye 42-yard field goal attempt that Slye would knock through:

Milton finishes his first NFL drive 3 of 5 for 16 yards and three points on the board for his team.
