The race is on for one of the nation’s most dynamic prep football recruits.

Montgomery (Ala.) Carver all-purpose running back Anthony “Turbo” Rogers is committed to Alabama but is being pursued by the nation’s elite football programs.

From speaking directly with the consensus 4-star recruit during today’s Carver practice, Rogers is still not done with his recruitment and plans to take his five official visits this fall.

“Probably Auburn,” Rogers said of the likely first official visit. He doesn’t have everything exactly mapped out yet. The 5-foot-8 and 185-pound recruit’s talent level will make his recruitment one of the most interesting in the country from this point forward. Coaches are certainly putting in the work to land him.

Having a good relationship with Bama running backs coach Robert Gillespie since before Nick Saban retired, Rogers also brought up Ohio State's “Coach Lock” ( Carlos Locklyn ) and Auburn’s Derrick Nix as a couple more coaches that are after him hard, among others.

The latter of those coaches represents the Tigers and there's a lot of discussion about Auburn Flipping the current Bama commitment. Even if he does switch sides in the Iron Bowl rivalry, it's still a long way until Rogers can put pen to paper and sign his letter of intent with Auburn. Other programs are not going to give up.

“Georgia is coming after me hard. All the teams are really.”

Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, and several more schools would like to get him in for an official visit this fall as Rogers did not even take one trip this summer. While his exact official visit schedule is still playing out, the decision date is one Rogers did not hesitate to disclose.

“Signing Day.” This year, that will be Dec. 4.

All of the teams still chasing after Rogers would love to have him commit sooner, but this looks like a recruitment that could go down to the wire. He’s such a special talent that recruiting Rogers into December is worth the effort.
