Team USA pulled off an impressive comeback to defeat Serbia in Thursday's 2024 Paris Olympics semifinals. Advancing to the gold medal game against France, Team USA will have to defeat the home team led by San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.

On the same day USA Basketball clinched no lower than a silver medal, American sprinter Noah Lyles received a bronze medal for his performance in the men's 200-meter. It has since been reported by Lyles that he was competing with COVID-19, as the 100-meter gold medalist told reporters he tested positive Tuesday morning.

"I tested positive around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning," Lyles said ( via ESPN ). "I woke up in the middle of the night just feeling really chills, aching, sore throat."

Lyles will not compete for the remainder of the Paris Olympics due to this diagnosis, which is incredibly disappointing for the American star.

Despite this disheartening news, fans are convinced USA Basketball took a shot at Lyles following their victory over Serbia.

"We don't play for Bronze," USA Basketball wrote in a post on X.

Fans are convinced this was a shot at Lyles and have been making that clear in their reactions on X:

There are hundreds of responses like these to USA Basketball's post. Lyles upset several NBA players with his "world champion" comments last summer, many of which are on this Team USA roster.

Kevin Durant and Devin Booker are among the players who called Lyles out with Instagram comments after his statement first went viral:

Given this context, fans believe Team USA was taking a shot at the American sprinter following his bronze medal in the 200-meter.
