'America's Team' No More! CeeDee Scrubs 'Cowboys' From Social Media

    By Mike Fisher,

CeeDee Lamb does have some real level of leverage in his contract dispute with the Dallas Cowboys. He's a record-setting All-Pro receiver who is due to make $17.88 million this year in the final season of his deal ... while being viewed as a player worthy of making in excess of $30 million APY.

His leverage, in short, is his talent and his value to the Dallas offense.

But as a response to team owner Jerry Jones' goofy (or crazy like a fox?) pronouncement about the team's leverage here - "I don't have any urgency to get it done," Jerry said (or fibbed) in reference to a contract extension that could make Lamb one of the highest-paid non-QB's in NFL history - Lamb pulled the lever on what the modern player sees as in-public leverage.

He scrubbed the Cowboys from his social-media sites.

What negative impact will Jones' comments have on the on-going negotiations with Lamb, which by the way the owner claims is an area in which "we're getting great work (done), making real progress and I don't think (we're) losing a step where we are now."

    None, really.

What negative impact will Lamb's erasing of "America's Team'' from his profile have on the same Thursday, August 8 day that he noted was "8/8'' - reflecting his "88'' his jersey number?

    None, really.

And what of the public overreaction to it all, fueled in part by Cowboys stars Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons making sure to take Lamb's side in the dispute, and its negative impact?

There probably won't be one there, either.

Jones has done this before. Almost regularly, really, when it comes to disputes. He's done it over All-Pro Zack Martin's contract. He's done it over NFL rushing champ Ezekiel Elliott's contract. By gosh, he's taken on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell using the same technique.

And in the end, nobody gets "alienated,'' as some media folks are claiming while hyperventilating. Nothing is really "made worse,'' as some media folks are claiming while clutching their pearls. There will be no "locker-room mutiny'' - at least not any more than there already was going to be as a result of the Joneses' plan to "Blow It Up'' after this year, as evidenced by the multitude of one-year contracts for these players and coaches for "Lame-Duck Dallas.''

But in the moment? We get it. Jones seems to be out of control. And Lamb seems to be "out'' period.

So sweat it out and shake your fist and hyperventilate angrily at the Dallas Cowboys and their drama ... and stay tuned. As always - by design with crazy-fox Jerry Jones - stay tuned.
