Cowboys 'Plan To Sign' Dak, Lamb & Micah As Super Bowl Moves - Stephen

Dallas Cowboys fans and media were sent into a pearls-clutching frenzy on Thursday afternoon when team owner Jerry Jones seemed to offer a nonchalant answer regarding the "urgency'' involved in contract negotiations to extend CeeDee Lamb.

Jerry's son, COO Stephen, is now working to not only sign holdout Lamb ... but to get Cowboys Nation to quit white-knuckling those pearls.

"We think the world of CeeDee and we understand where he's coming from on this, and why he's not here, but we continue to work very hard on getting this deal done," Stephen Jones said on The Doomsday Podcast with Ed Werder and Matt Mosley.

And what of the "mutinous'' responses from Lamb teammates Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott? Micah retweeted Lamb's "lol'' response to Jerry's remarks, and Dak concluded his Thursday press conference by contracting Jerry, saying, ' I've got urgency for it to happen. '

Stephen attempted to calm those waters, too.

"We plan on doing it," he said of contract extensions for Prescott and Parsons in addition to one for Lamb. "We want all three players here. We have the best chance of winning a championship by having those players on our roster."

Lamb is presently due $17.88 million for this year but is seeking a new deal that would pay him well in excess of $30 million APY, thus making him one of the highest-paid non-QBs in NFL history. Dallas has the option of franchise tagging the receiver next year if no deal is reached.

The Cowboys are also negotiating with Prescott, who is in the final year of his contract and can be a free agent next spring ... and he too is the subject of talks that could springboard him to a market-re-setting deal in excess of $55 million - with a source telling CowboysCountry.com that with "patience'' he could end up breaking the bank of an NFL team at $70 million APY.

Parsons is eligible (but not necessarily "due'') a new deal and has spoken of making $40 million APY, again, a massive market re-set.

Some allege there is a "disconnect'' between Jerry's remarks and Stephen's. Those folks forget what we often say about how the Joneses run "America's Team.''

"Sometimes this seems like a marketing company that plays football on the side.''

Amid the Thursday tumult, that seems more true that ever.
