NFL World Already Buzzing With Tom Brady Comparisons for New Patriots QB

After a dazzling preseason debut on Thursday, August 8, New England Patriots rookie quarterback Joe Milton III already has NFL fans connecting the dots to Tom Brady — and not because of his scrambling ability .

Milton, like Brady, was this year's Patriots' sixth-round draft pick (No. 193 overall). While he spent the last three seasons at the University of Tennessee, he began his collegiate playing career at Brady's alma mater, the University of Michigan, from 2018-20.

And yes, he also began as the school's backup quarterback before getting a chance to start five games (2-3) during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

That's about where the natural comparisons stop for the 6-foot-5, 246-pound rookie signal-caller, though. However, that didn't stop fans on social media from hyping the connection anyway.

"New England fell into Tom Brady I think it’s only fair that we convince them to put a few tokens into the Joe Milton Experience," one fan wrote .

"Joe Milton > Tom Brady," joked the Underdog Fantasy account on a highlight video of Milton's first career Patriots touchdown.

Boston Sports media personality Jerry Thornton added , "And so it begins. Remember where you were when Joe Milton III’s legend was born."

Despite the presence of No. 3 overall pick Drake Maye, Milton, 24, has already turned heads at Patriots camp with his raw arm strength.

He finished his debut with 76 total yards (54 passing) and 1 touchdown on 4-of-6 passing.
