How Quickly Can Bucs Adapt to New Coach?

    By Jonah Morgan,

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost their offensive coordinator from this past season, as Dave Canales took the Carolina Panthers head coach position. As a result, the Bucs will have to adapt to their new coordinator, Liam Coen.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox , he outlines one question every NFL team must answer during the preseason. For the reigning NFC South champions, that question is if they can adjust quickly to their new coordinator.

"It's fair to wonder if the offensive momentum Tampa built last season can continue after Canales left for Carolina. The Buccaneers hired Liam Coen ... and he's been busy installing a new system this offseason," Knox writes. "While the Bucs probably won't play their starters heavily in the preseason... they should quickly learn if their offense is ready to pick up where it left off in 2023."

The team was able to make the playoffs and beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card in Baker Mayfield's first season with the team. He will be looking to do the same thing under his new coordinator, and further connect with his weapons.

The Bucs have one of the best wide receiver duos in the entire NFL with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, and they added Jalen McMillan in the draft, who could be a solid piece. Rachaad White also had a solid campaign in 2023, though his efficiency on the ground is something he and Coen could work on.

The Buccaneers kept their same offensive core from this past season and added a few key pieces in the draft. Coen and the rest of the team will be looking to win the NFC South for the fourth season in a row and make some noise in the playoffs.
