Amid CeeDee Rumors, Cowboys Officials Skip Practice, Make CB Trade

    No, not a CeeDee trade.

    A CB trade.

The Dallas Cowboys are sending backup cornerback Nahshon Wright to the Vikings in exchange for another cornerback in Andrew Booth, NFL Network reports, in a Friday deal that comes at a time when Dallas team officials were also absent from the start of training camp practice in Oxnard.

Why would Jerry and Stephen Jones, and personnel boss, and even head coach Mike McCarthy, skip practice?

To engineer a trade for Andrew Booth?

    Nah.

More logical speculation should center around an attempt to end the CeeDee Lamb contract dispute and holdout.

For a moment, it seemed logical to wonder why Dak Prescott - also eligible for a contract extension - joined team brass in being absent …

But the Cowboys announced that he is off the field today due to ankle soreness.

Booth was a 2022 second-round pick in Minnesota. In Dallas, Wright - despite his notable 6-4 frame - never quite got on the field.

    Meanwhile ...

These are tumultuous times in Cowboys Nation, with Jerry's son, COO Stephen, working to not only sign holdout Lamb ... but to get the audience (and maybe his own players) to quit pearl-clutching in the wake of Jerry's "non-urgency'' announcement.

"We think the world of CeeDee and we understand where he's coming from on this, and why he's not here, but we continue to work very hard on getting this deal done," Stephen Jones said on The Doomsday Podcast with Ed Werder and Matt Mosley.

And what of the "mutinous'' responses from Lamb teammates Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott? Micah retweeted Lamb's "lol'' response to Jerry's remarks, and Dak concluded his Thursday press conference by contracting Jerry, saying, ' I've got urgency for it to happen. '

Stephen attempted to calm those waters, too.

"We plan on doing it," he said of contract extensions for Prescott and Parsons in addition to one for Lamb. "We want all three players here. We have the best chance of winning a championship by having those players on our roster."
