Few players in the NFL are under more pressure than Will McDonald is with the New York Jets .

It isn't even really fair either.

Seen as a waste of a pick after being taken with the 15th overall pick in 2023, McDonald was a healthy scratch for several games his rookie season, and put up just three sacks.

The numbers and pressure rate may have been higher than the likes of Jermaine Johnson's rookie season, but the fact that the Jets took him over a wide receiver at a time the fanbase felt they needed the opposite.

As he enters his sophomore season, the pressure is on McDonald to prove himself in a way that will allow the Jets to rely on him as an every down edge defender.

Early on in his second training camp, though, and McDonald looks even better than before.

That reality was met even more during joint practices with the Washington Commanders.

Whether it was consistent pass rushing moves or his development of a consistent spin move, McDonald has looked the part of a dynamic edge rusher in his sophomore season.

The only question will be if the Jets allow McDonald to be the kind of every down player they have pushed for at this point.
