USA and France will play in the 2024 Paris Olympics men's basketball gold medal game on Saturday. Team USA defeated Serbia in the semifinals, and France took down Germany.

France is led by San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, who leads the team in points, assists, and rebounds through five games. France's second-leading scorer at the Olympics has been Guerschon Yabusele, who is averaging 12.8 points on 55.0 percent shooting.

Yabusele was drafted 16th overall by the Boston Celtics in 2016, appearing in 74 games for the franchise before being waived. Ahead of this gold medal game against Team USA, Yabusele reportedly passed along a message to the Celtics.

According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Yabusele would like another opportunity with the Celtics, and asked for that message to be passed along.

In a post on X, Washburn wrote, "Just had a moment with Guerschon Yabusele, who recognized me and said smiling, 'You gotta tell (the Celtics) to bring me back.' Yabu was a former BOS first-round pick. Plays now for Real Madrid."

Still just 28 years old, Yabusele has shown throughout the Olympics that he can still play at a high level. Helping lead France to the gold medal game against Team USA, Yabusele has scored in double-figures three of the five games he has played this tournament.

Yabusele had 17 points and seven rebounds in Thursday's semifinals win over Germany.

Last appearing in an NBA game during the 2018-19 season, Yabusele averaged 2.3 points in just 6.6 minutes per game with Boston. Hoping for another opportunity at the NBA level, Yabusele sent a message to his former club ahead of what will likely be the biggest game of his basketball career.
