    Steelers' Markus Golden Retires; Is There a Shortage at LB?

    On Friday, the Pittsburgh Steelers placed the newly re-signed linebacker Markus Golden on the reserve/retired list. The 33-year-old had just re-joined the Steelers on Aug. 2.

    Last season, linebacker Markus Golden joined the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year, $1.3 million deal and added some depth to the linebacker room.

    The former Missouri Tiger posted 20 tackles with 14 solo and 4 sacks across 16 games with the Steelers while playing in just 22 percent of the team's defensive snaps.

    And while he entered free agency this offseason as Pittsburgh didn't retain him early on, general manager Omar Khan has had a change of heart. The Steelers re-signed Golden on Thursday to a one-year deal.

    Drafted by Arizona in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Golden has split time between the Cardinals , New York Giants and Steelers.

    For his career, Golden has tallied 343 total tackles with 220 solo and 68 for loss while posting 51 sacks, one interception, 11 forced fumbles and 5 fumble recoveries across 127 career games.

    Now the Steelers will move forward on Friday night against the Houston Texans without him in the preseason opener, and Khan will need to decide what, if anything, he wants to do to replace
