The New York Giants may not have a quarterback controversy. But they do have a quarterback injury.

Backup Drew Lock, who left Thursday night's preseason win over the Detroit Lions, is expected to miss time with a bone contusion and strained oblique suffered while getting hit in the pocket. Daniel Jones remains the starter, but third-stringer Tommy DeVito is the only other quarterback on the roster.

Coach Brian Daboll said Friday the team may have to look at signing another quarterback before next weekend's game against the Houston Texans. General manager Joe Schoen said during the TV broadcast of the game that Lock could’ve returned if needed.

“It could be longer than a couple days,” Daboll said early Friday afternoon.

The Giants already are taking a cautious approach with Jones, who is coming off a season in which he suffered a season-ending torn ACL.
