Colorado's Travis Hunter mocked to Vikings in 2025 NFL Draft

The Minnesota Vikings could use some help at the cornerback and wide receiver positions and a recent reputable mock draft indicates that will come by selecting Colorado's Travis Hunter.

According to a mock draft by The 33rd Team , Minnesota is projected to draft the cornerback/wide receiver with the No. 9 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 33rd Team 's Ian Valentino writes:

"Is Travis Hunter a cornerback or a wide receiver in the NFL? It's more difficult to find an impact corner with Hunter's natural instincts and ability to produce turnovers. The Minnesota Vikings have one of the weaker cornerback rooms in the league, so Hunter would revitalize a unit that was elevated by Brian Flores in 2023."

Pro Football Focus — as of Friday — doesn't have a single Vikings corner ranked in the top 30 in defensive grades. The highest ranked at the position — Mekhi Blackmon (No. 32) — suffered a torn ACL in the team's first practice and is out for the year.

Shaquill Griffin is ranked No. 53 on the list and newly-acquired Fabian Moreau (No. 73), Byron Murphy Jr. (No. 86) and Akayleb Evans (No. 99) rounds out the group in Minnesota.

At the wide receiver position, the overall talent begins to drop off after Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Jefferson has an offensive grade of 91.1, fifth-best in the league, behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Nico Collins, Brandon Aiyuk and Tyreek Hill. Addison is at No. 56 and Minnesota's Brandon Powell is ranked 80th overall in the category.

The dual-threat athlete Hunter caught 57 passes for 721 yards and five touchdowns last season. He primarily lined up in the slot position, taking 225 snaps in the slot and 124 snaps out wide. On the defensive side of the ball, he nabbed three interceptions and broke up five passes while also holding opposing quarterbacks to an 89.7 passer rating.

The NFL's Daniel Jeremiah says Hunter is projected more so to be a wide receiver in the league, noting he isn't as polished defensively as he is on the offensive side of the ball.

But, Hunter could still improve and become a better cornerback prospect.

"There is more work to be done on the defensive side of the ball. Hunter's tackling is too inconsistent, and he needs to develop better eye discipline to avoid getting out of position," Jeremiah said.

It's not surprising to see the Vikings projected as a top-10 pick, as they currently have a 6.5 over/under for wins, via BetMGM.
