Stanford has a long line of successful tight ends over the years, and junior Sam Roush appears to be the next in line. Coming off a modest sophomore season with 28 catches for 288 yards, he's expected to break through in his junior year.

Roush was named to the John Mackey Award Watch List as one of the best tight ends in the country. He'd be the first Stanford tight end to win the award that was established in 2000.

The former four-star recruit was ranked as the 11th-best tight end in the 2022 class per 247Sports , and national recruiting editor Brandon Huffman compared him to Tyler Higbee at the time due to his "excellent ball skills, ability to adjust to throws, and [use of] his length to create separation."

Benjamin Yurosek transferred to Georgia after catching 16 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown, so Roush's role in the offense will be greater this fall. Expect a big year from the junior tight end.
