Steelers Punter Absolutely Clobbered Tank Dell In NFL Preseason Game

On Friday night, the Houston Texans defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-12 at Acrisure Stadium in both teams' first game of the 2024 NFL preseason.

The contest gave fans their first glimpse of Justin Fields playing for the Steelers. Meanwhile, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud picked up where he left off last season, leading his team to a touchdown on the second of his two drives in the game.

But arguably the biggest highlight of the night came from Steelers punter Cameron Johnston.

A little over halfway through the first quarter, Texans wide receiver Tank Dell received a punt from Johnston and made a return toward the near sideline. After making it to the Pittsburgh 41-yard line, Johnston drilled Dell as he was going out of bounds, causing him to hit the ground hard.

Johnston, who played with Dell last season in Houston, had a few words for his former teammate after the hit, causing a heated interaction between both teams on the Pittsburgh sideline.

No penalties were charged to either team as a result of the skirmish, but Pittsburgh's Dez Fitzpatrick was called for being out of bounds on the kick, resulting in a five-yard penalty. The Texans went on to score the first touchdown of the game on a pass from Stroud to Dell.

Dell finished the game with one reception for 34 yards and a touchdown. His single punt return went for 22 yards before he was hit out of bounds by Johnston.
