Things to watch in Chicago Bears’ preseason game vs. Bills

It’s a preseason football game day!
The Chicago Bears take on the Buffalo Bills at noon on Saturday in the Bears’ second game of the preseason.
This one, however, should be a little more exciting than the first.
Here are a few things to watch in Saturday’s game.
Caleb Williams
The No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, Williams will make his preseason debut for the Bears on Saturday and all eyes will be on him.
Head coach Matt Eberflus didn’t say how much the starters will play, but it’s not expected to be a lot.
Still, it’ll be fun to see Williams in a game setting for the first time as a member of the Bears, especially against a great Bills defense that will also play its starters for a bit.
Williams’ performance, whichever way it goes, will only be a very small sample size on which to judge him, but I’ll be looking to see how he commands the offense, whether he gets the ball out on time or holds onto it and scrambles a lot, and how accurate he is, particularly down the field.
Running back rotation
D’Andre Swift is expected to also make his debut for the Bears on Saturday, but it’ll be interesting to see how the workload is divided behind him and what the production looks like.
For all of his production, the Bears don’t seem to want to lean heavily on Khalil Herbert. He suited up for the Hall of Fame Game, then got only four carries but accumulated 35 yards.
Roschon Johnson, meanwhile, has been solid in his own right. His preseason debut consisted of six carries for 24 yards and one catch for seven yards.
How will the Bears manage the committee on Saturday, and will it give us any hints about the plan for the regular season?
Young Bears defenders
Chicago’s starting defense seems to be in a good spot, but I’m interested to see how some of the younger, depth guys perform.
Several of them, like Zacch Pickens, Dominique Robinson and Micah Baskerville, didn’t exactly have great performances in the first preseason contest. Meanwhile, others like Austin Booker, Khalid Kareem and even veteran Byron Cowart did play well.
Who will carry over their performance into preseason game No. 2?
Kickoff is set for noon on Saturday.
