In a game that looked like it was going to end in a tie on Friday night, the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens came up with an unexpected finish to the first preseason game of the year. ... with Philly winning, 16-13.

With the game tied at 13, the Eagles drove into field-goal range before their drive stalled at the Baltimore 31. Veteran kicker Jake Elliott came out and prepared himself to kick the game-winning field goal.

With just 21 seconds remaining in the contest, Elliott’s foot powered the ball into the night air. The ball drifted to the right before clanking off of the upright and falling to the ground to keep the game tied at  13-all.

"We all were on the sideline knowing we were going to have an opportunity to go out there and get the ball back and end it," Eagles linebacker Patrick Johnson said . "I was just happy to be the guy to be able to do it."

The Ravens still had timeouts remaining and only needed to realistically only go about 40 yards to get into field goal range for All-Pro kicker Justin Tucker. But all of that came crashing down on their first play.

Baltimore quarterback Emory Jones dropped back, looking downfield for a chunk play when Johnson broke loose and sack-stripped Emory and fell on the ball for the turnover recovering the ball at the Baltimore 32 yard-line with just 12 seconds remaining in the game.

The Eagles would run a quarterback sneak with Tanner McKee before calling their final timeout.

Elliott once again made his way onto the field to attempt the game winner. From 49 yards out, the kick split the uprights as time expired giving the Eagles a thrilling (for preseason) victory on the road.

The Eagles will be off on Saturday and return to the practice field at the NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia on Sunday as they prepare to hit the road again next week to take on the New England Patriots on Thursday night.
