Utah's beloved veteran QB Cam Rising has earned yet another nod on a preseason watch list for a prestigious end-of-season award. After being named to the Maxwell Award Watch List, Rising has also made the Davey O'Brien Award Watch List despite missing all of 2023 due to injury.

The Davey O'Brien Award goes to the best QB in college football at the end of the season, and "Bad Moon" Rising joins 35 other players across the sport on the list, while also being one of eight Big 12 QBs named.

The last time Rising was up for the Davey O'Brien Award was in 2022 when he ended up as a semifinalist. During that season, the long-tenured field general racked up over 3,000 passing yards and 26 touchdowns while also rushing for nearly 500 yards.

Should he remain healthy, Rising seems primed to best his 2022 campaign as he not only is more tenured but also will step on the field with arguably the most talented receiving unit he's ever thrown to.

With the return of Brant Kuithe and Money Parks as well as the addition of Dorian Singer and Damien Alford among others, the offense as a whole should be able to spread the defense thin and always find a way to move the pigskin toward the red zone, and that's not even mentioning the multiple dual-threat options in the backfield.
