DeMeco Ryans reacts to Texans win over the Pittsburgh Steelers

The Texans wrapped up their extended work vacation with a preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team hasn’t been in Texas since before the Hall of Fame game more than a week ago. Fortunately, last night's game was more productive and not cut short by a torrential downpour like we saw in Canton. Overall, the mood was very positive following the victory.

Here are a couple of the themes that head coach DeMeco Ryans covered in his press conference.

“I think both of our units went out and made plays. Offensively we were efficient. Loved the C.J. to Tank connection, making a big play for us. Tank getting in the end zone. Happy to just see him back.”, said Ryan.

“Defensively, seeing Danielle step up and get after the quarterback is why we got him here.”

On the competitiveness he is seeing amongst the wide receivers

DeMeco: Guys just compete. I mean this is the NFL. We want guys to be their best and that’s just what they’re doing. They’re showing up and competing every day while also being great teammates and helping each other. So that’s what you see, a competitive group of guys not only in the wide receiver room but [throughout] our entire team. A lot of competitive guys fighting to make this team.

The Texans resume their preseason schedule next Saturday when they host the New York Giants.
