Bucs Roster Projection: RB Sean Tucker

    By TJ French,

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed running back Sean Tucker as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft, and Tucker initially won the Bucs backup running back spot last season.

With the emergence of running back Bucky Irving, the Bucs are trying to shake up their running game and utilize another tailback instead of relying so heavily on workhorse Rachaad White.

Preseason games are more important for some players rather than others, and one of those fighting for a roster spot is Tucker. Although he never really picked up the offense last year, with running back Chase Edmonds' stock plummeting due to injury and lack of practice, Taylor is getting a fresh set of opportunities and capitalizing on it.

Tucker has improved his agility and acceleration, and head coach Todd Bowles highlighted how well he is getting downfield. For a player like Tucker, the preseason is all about opportunity. If he can show the coaches he can be more of an asset in the passing game as either a receiver or blocker, he gives himself a chance.

Tucker has proven to be a productive back in his collegiate days at the University of Syracuse. In three years he rushed for 3,182 yards averaging 5.4 yards per attempt, and 27 touchdowns.

The Bucs preseason opener is tonight, and i t will be interesting to see what type of snaps Tucker receives, and if he has any true big-play ability with the ball in his hands.
