Dawn Staley Issues Desperate Challenge for Teams to Face SC Next Season

South Carolina women's basketball head coach Dawn Staley took to social media on Friday for an unusual request. She asked her followers for help finding a team to schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

"Really sorry I have to resort to this but-we need a game," said Staley.

"I’ve had some nice, funny and outlandish convos regarding scheduling a game H/H with a guarantee and guaranteed a great student-athlete experience-any interest please let me know. Need to finish this schedule," the three-time NCAA champion head coach added.

As dominant as South Carolina women's basketball is, Staley might have a hard time finding a taker.

However, the Gamecocks brand is arguably the strongest in women's basketball, and agreeing to a "home and home" series could be a great way for another university to energize its fanbase.

Last season, South Carolina went 38-0, winning its third national championship since 2017 under Staley.

The Gamecocks open the 2024-25 season in Las Vegas with a game against Michigan. Their out-of-conference schedule also includes games against NC State (Nov. 14), UCLA (Nov. 24), Iowa State (Nov. 28), Purdue (Nov. 30) and Duke (Dec. 5).
