Draymond Green's obsession with Rudy Gobert could take him to France

The feud between Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green runs deep and Green’s obsession could lead him all the way to the Paris Olympics for the gold medal game between the United States and France.

Speaking with former NBA All-Star Baron Davis on his latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show, ” Green said that he would be attending the gold medal game, which takes place at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. When revealing his plans, Davis laughed and inquired about more of Green’s plans.

“I know where you sitting. Right behind the France bench.” Davis said.

“I’m going,” Green replied. “I need to talk to Rudy Gobert.”

Green and Gobert have a long history dating back to Gobert’s days with the Utah Jazz. The beef extends back to Gobert defeating Green for the 2014-15 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award but has extended to All-Star appearances, subtweets and jabs during television interviews.

The bad blood boiled over last season when Green was suspended for five games after choking Gobert during a fight in a game between the Timberwolves and Warriors last November. Green continued to pile on as an analyst for TNT’s Inside the NBA last spring, singling out Gobert’s defense during the Wolves’ series with the Denver Nuggets and clowning Gobert to the point where the Wolves made a team agreement to refuse to do interviews if Green was present.

Green went on to tell Davis that he may wear his 2020 Gold Medal behind the French bench as well, an accolade he won by defeating Gobert during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. At this point, it wouldn’t be surprising if Green displayed full heel energy by bashing Gobert with a steel chair during a game but it will be interesting if Green has some interaction with Gobert during Saturday’s gold medal game.
