The Buffalo Bills kicked off their preseason with a much-anticipated matchup against the Chicago Bears at Highmark Stadium. On a cloudy afternoon with temperatures at 70 degrees Fahrenheit and 18 mph winds, fans eagerly awaited the return of quarterback Josh Allen , who led the Bills’ first-team offense in their brief debut.

Head coach Sean McDermott had announced earlier that Allen and the starting unit would play for about a quarter, giving fans their first look at the revamped offense. The game also marked the NFL debut of No. 1 overall draft pick Caleb Williams , who started for the Bears.

The Bears received the ball first, and Williams immediately showcased his potential. Despite a holding penalty that set the Bears back, Williams demonstrated his poise by completing a key third-down pass to D.J. Moore and then flipping the ball to D’Andre Swift for a 42-yard gain. The drive ended with the Bears settling for a 30-yard field goal, putting them up 3-0.

When Josh Allen took the field, the Bills' offense struggled to gain momentum. Their first drive resulted in a quick three-and-out, leaving fans hoping for more from their star quarterback. Allen’s brief appearance, though not what fans had hoped for, served as a starting point for the Bills as they work towards regular season readiness.

Both teams showed flashes of potential, with the Bears’ rookie quarterback impressing on his first drive and the Bills looking to find their rhythm as the preseason progresses.
