During training camp, Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski announced that quarterback Deshaun Watson will not play in Game 1 of the preseason while backup Jameis Winston will get the nod under center.
We will see some starters on the field on Saturday, but the matchup against the Packers will be mostly an opportunity for young players to make a name for themselves on the field while trying to make an NFL roster.
On the other side of the field, Packers quarterback Jordan Love is expected to see some action alongside some other starters for at least a series or two.
Love tossed for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns last season while leading Green Bay to a win over the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs. That earned the 25-year-old a four-year, $220 million deal this offseason.
Both teams have some injury concerns, with the Packers missing corner, Don Callis (IR), and possibly without offensive tackle Jordan Morgan (QUESTIONABLE), tight end Tucker Kraft (QUESTIONABLE), wideout Dimitri Stanley (QUESTIONABLE) and linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (QUESTIONABLE).
The Browns could be without wideout Jerry Jeudy (QUESTIONABLE), safety Juan Thornhill (QUESTIONABLE), defensive end Za'Darius Smith (QUESTIONABLE), linebacker Tony Fields (QUESTIONABLE) and defensive tackle Shelby Harris.
