The Cincinnati Reds (56-60) have had an up-and-down season, to say the least in 2024. Despite potentially being on the outside looking in come the playoffs, they are more than happy than the steps Jonathan India has taken in his development this season.

In a recent article from Bleacher Report , Joel Reuter ranked the game's top 10 players at each position right now. After being ranked fifth in last month's positional power rankings, India now finds himself ranked sixth.

India, 27, is in his fourth Major League season, all with the Reds. Entering 2024, he held a .255/.350/.419 line with 48 home runs, 171 RBI, 29 steals, and a 105 OPS+ over 372 games and 1,591 plate appearances.

This season, India has batted .253/.360/.391 with nine home runs, 41 RBI, 10 steals, and a 109 OPS+ through 108 games and 451 plate appearances.

Despite a strong season overall, India has struggled so far in the second half. He has batted only .157/.286/.229 with one home run, three RBI, two steals, and a 45 OPS+.

India has drastically improved his defense at the keystone this season. Entering 2024 with a combined -23 Outs Above Average per Baseball Savant from 2021-2023, he has accrued two Outs Above Average this season, ranking him in the top 23 percent of the league.

India has been a big part of the Reds offense since debuting in 2021 for the club and subsequently winning the 2021 National League Rookie of the Year. Now entering his prime, that award may be far from the last hardware India has for his mantle by the end of his career.
