Rangers Dealt Nathan Eovaldi Injury Scare Vs. Yankees

The Texas Rangers have dealt with injury problems all season long, especially when it comes to their pitching staff, and on Saturday, those issues continued.

Starter Nathan Eovaldi exited his outing against the New York Yankees early due to tightness in his right side, per Evan Grant of Dallas News. The right-hander allowed three runs in three innings before departing.

The 34-year-old already missed time earlier this season with a groin injury. He's suffered an injury in every single season since 2016 except for 2021. Despite this latest setback, Rangers skipper Bruce Bochy doesn't expect it to be serious. Taking him out was more of a precaution:

“We think he will be alright,” Bochy said. “But we want to make sure we don’t injure him. He had some tightness, but he could have kept going. He was at 80 pitches. We didn’t want to take any chances.”

Eovaldi has gone 8-6 with a 3.75 ERA in 2024. He's expected to make his next start. Texas ultimately lost 8-0 to the Bronx Bombers.
