Browns Suffer Sound 23-10 Defeat vs. Packers in Preseason Opener

The Cleveland Browns ' preseason opener didn't go as they hoped, as the Green Bay Packers will leave town with a 23-10 win.

With starting quarterback Deshaun Watson and their top playmakers watching on , the Browns' offense struggled to sustain drives . They finished with just 244 total yards of offense, and that was despite reaching the redzone four times.

Of the three quarterbacks who played, Jameis Winston shined, albeit on just one drive. He completed four of his five passes for 30 yards, helping set up the team's opening field goal.

However, Dorian Thompson-Robinson's performance may have given Winston a run for this money in terms of who deserves to be called the Browns' player of the game. The former fifth-round pick led the Browns' only touchdown drive, as he completed 14 of his 18 passes for 134 yards.

Despite not receiving the second half's opening kickoff, the Packers scored first, just as they did to start the game. The Browns' first possession out of the locker room lasted just one play, as an 11-yard completion from Thompson-Robinson to John Kelly Jr., was quickly negated by a fumble.

Despite the very favorable field position from the turnover, the Packers only managed to add three points to their lead via Greg Joseph's leg on a 35-yard attempt. Then, the Packers added another three points following a quick three-and-out by the Browns' offense, pushing their lead to 20 points.

After a rough start with the UCLA product at quarterback in his first two drives, the Browns offense settled in during Thompson-Robinson's third drive. The second-year signal-caller marched the Browns 69 yards in 11 plays, taking them to the doorstep of the Packers' goal line.

Yet, despite being in scoring position on the Packers' 11-yard-line, the Browns offense trotted off the field empty-handed as a fourth-down pass was batted down behind the line of scrimmage.

However, following a Packers punt, the Browns would finally find the endzone with a one-yard run from Aidan Robbins. The goal-line touchdown run capped off an impressive drive from Thompson-Robinson as he completed five of his six passes, leading the Browns offense 66 yards in 13 plays.

It was the last points on the scoreboard, as the Browns fell 23-10 in a sound win for the Packers.
