Chiefs Announce Injury to Star Player During Preseason Game

The one thing that you don't want to see in preseason football is an injury. While it's a great opportunity for players to knock the rust off and get into game mode before the start of the regular season, finding a balance between meaningful reps and potentially disastrous injuries is hard to do.

The Kansas City Chiefs struggled with that on Saturday, seeing one of their best players — wide receiver Hollywood Brown — exit the game with a shoulder injury on the very first play.

Brown, who signed with the defending Super Bowl champions this offseason, caught a pass to open the game, but he injured his shoulder going to the ground. The Chiefs quickly announced that he was questionable to return, but in a preseason game where health is more important than the outcome, it's fair to expect that his day is done.

Over the next couple of days, we will hopefully learn more about Brown's injury and how serious it is going forward. But for now, it's safe to assume that he will be taking it easy for the rest of the preseason.
