The Philadelphia Phillies (69-48) opened the week looking like the team that was pacing MLB entering July, winning four out of five games. The last two games, however, things are looking bleak again. The Phillies dropped game three of their four-game weekend set with the Arizona Diamondbacks (65-53) 11-1.

    Nola's Rough Night

Aaron Nola (11-6, 3.60 ERA) started the night without his command, allowing three hard hit balls through the first two innings, including a solo home run in the first inning to Ketel Marte . It was Marte's 30th home run of the season.

Nola would settle in for the third and fourth innings, allowing only two hits, but no runs. The fifth inning would see the Diamondbacks increase their lead on Nola, with three more hard hit balls, including a two-run home run from Jake McCarthy .

Nola's final line for the night reads as five innings, nine hits, four runs, three earned, three walks, four strikeouts, two home runs. Nola has now gone three  appearances without a quality start.

    Notable Stats

    • Garrett Stubbs has been the catcher for Nola in five of his last six starts including Saturday. The Phillies are 1-4 in those starts.
    • Saturday marks the 9th game since the All-Star Break that the Phillies have allowed five or more runs in a game. They are 0-9 in those games.
    • With a third inning single, Alec Bohm extended his hitting streak to 12 games and his MLB-leading on-base streak to 28 games.
    • Kyle Schwarber drew his 84th and 85th walks of the season Saturday night. Schwarber has a .549 OBP over his last 15 games.
    • Max Lazar made his Major League debut for the Phillies in relief. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing no runs on no hits or walks and one strikeout.
    • The Phillies have not hit well with runners in scoring position of late. In this series alone, they have gone 4-for-27 over three games.
    • McCarthy is a Philly killer. In this series alone, he has gone 5-for-13 with three home runs and seven RBI with one game left. Six of his 18 career home runs have come against the Phillies.

    WPA Leader of the Game

Saturday's WPA leader of the game is Diamondbacks reliever Kevin Ginkel . Ginkel entered the game with one out and a runner on third in relief of Zac Gallen (9-5, 3.69 ERA) who left with an injury. Ginkel would leave the runner stranded at third with a strikeout and a lineout around a walk.

Ginkel would come back out for the sixth, working a 1-2-3 inning for the Diamondbacks, with two more strikeouts. Ginkel would finish the night with no runs on no hits and one walk while striking out three in 1 2/3 innings and picking up the win. Ginkel's WPA for the night would finish at 18.4.

    Next Up

Next up for the Phillies is the final game of this 10-game West Coast Trip on Sunday. The first pitch for Sunday's game is scheduled for 4:10 PM EST. The game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Philadelphia and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Phillies fans can listen to the game on 94 WIP or WTTM 1680.
