LeBron James Epic Nickname For Team USA Takes The Internet By Storm

Paris Olympics men's basketball MVP LeBron James was asked what the nickname of this year's gold medal-winning United States team was, and he had his answer ready to go when the question was asked.

"There's the dream team, the redeem team; what's this team?"

"The Avengers," James responded.

The United States capped off a captivating tournament after defeating France in the gold medal game on Saturday, 98-87.

Including exhibition play, the United States didn't lose a single game, going a staggering 11-0. Led by 39-year-old James, Kevin Durant , and Stephen Curry, who scored 60 points combined over the final two games, hitting 16 threes. Four of which came in the final three minutes of the gold medal match in crunch time.

The U.S. won their fifth consecutive gold medal and their 17th all-time. A group that was assembled by Grant Hill with a mix of youth and experience. He put a roster together that coexisted and took selfishness out of the game. They showed that throughout, and it paid off.

This very well could be the last time we see James, Durant, and Curry at the Olympics. Going out with a bang was an essential piece of this entire process, and they did exactly that. Now, they pass the torch to the next generation for 2028, when the Olympics will be coming home, hosted in Los Angeles.
