Most of Team USA's success in the 2024 Olympics has been attributed to three people: Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Stephen Curry. And rightfully so: the trio had their individual moments during their run to the gold medal. However, one player who also deserves his flowers is Devin Booker.

The Phoenix Suns star is arguably the best shooting guard in the league. With elite isolation scoring and playmaking, Booker can make his case to be one of the main guys in Team USA. Instead, Booker deferred to the seniors, instead putting his attention on defense and spot-up shooting.

This did not come out of nowhere. Fans are now discovering that a year ago, Booker responded to NBA forward Kyle Kuzma's Olympics request with three words.

At the time, fans were not convinced that Booker would willingly fill that role. The Suns star disproved that narrative in the Olympics. Booker's supporters are coming out with receipts.

"he really called his shot," @mikegolicjr said.

Some fans who did not believe Booker admitted that they were wrong.

In the end, Booker had to prove that he had what it takes to play that role. He did all that and then some.

Booker's second gold medal came with a completely different team with him. With LeBron, Curry, and Durant joining the team, there was a chance that the Suns star would lose minutes.

Instead, Booker proved exactly why Team USA needed him on the court. His effort on defense and timely shooting made him invaluable to nearly every lineup Steve Kerr fielded on the court. He averaged 11.7 points per game while starting for the entire tournament.

In the gold medal game, Booker played 28 minutes, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists. The Suns star might have solidified his spot in future Olympic tournaments for years to come.
