As the Dallas Cowboys navigate their 2024 training camp, the spotlight has shifted to Brandin Cooks , who is emerging as a key figure in the team’s offense amid the absence of CeeDee Lamb . With Lamb's contract situation unresolved, Cooks has taken the opportunity to lead by example, showcasing his veteran experience and steady performance on the field.

Cooks has been a standout during the Cowboys’ joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams , making his presence felt against his former team. His ability to consistently get open and connect with quarterback Dak Prescott has caught the attention of both teammates and coaches.

"The more reps you get, clearly the better you get. Spending that time in the offseason, then in training camp, I think it's been vital," Cooks said. "You know, I do my job. I get open and Dak takes care of the rest."

Last season, Cooks recorded 54 catches for 657 yards and 8 touchdowns. While he hasn’t surpassed 1,000 receiving yards since his 2021 season with the Houston Texans, Cooks is confident that his hard work will pay off. If Lamb's contract situation continues into the season, Cooks could find himself stepping into the WR1 role, ready to make a significant impact.

With young receivers like Jalen Tolbert , Jalen Brooks, and Ryan Flournoy also making their mark in camp, the Cowboys' receiving corps appears deep and versatile. However, it’s Cooks who has been setting the tone, ensuring that the Dallas offense remains potent and ready to take on the challenges of the upcoming season.

The Cowboys will get their first look at how Cooks and the rest of the offense perform in game action when they open the 2024 NFL preseason against the Rams today.
