It wasn't just Jayden Daniels who excelled in Saturday's preseason opener for the Washington Commanders or New York Jets .

New York's seven-player draft class also looked strong in the team's 20-17 preseason win Saturday afternoon. While quarterback Jordan Travis did not play as he recovers from his broken leg, the Jets got plenty of production from the six others.

It started with 11th overall pick Olu Fashanu. The Penn State product did not give up a sack in a half of play while also surprising some with his run-blocking - a minor weakness for the rookie coming out of college.

Then there was third-round rookie Malachi Corley. The Western Kentucky product recorded a 33-yard kickoff return in the win and also recorded four catches for 27 yards. While he wasn't the "YAC King" like he was touted in college - it was a solid start for the 65th overall pick.

It was the later-round picks who excelled the most on Saturday, though.

While Mr. Irrelevant's Jaylen Key recorded six tackles on the day, with Qwan'tez Stiggers adding a strong tackle for loss, the day belonged to New York's rookie running backs.

Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis combined for 95 total yards of offense while averaging over six yards a carry. They were instrumental in moving the football in the second and third quarters to propel the Jets to a win.

They might not have the same type of workload once the regular season begins, but the Jets should be thrilled with their rookie class.
