A’ja Wilson Offers Hilarious Two-Word Nickname For Kahleah Copper After U.S. Gold Medal

Team USA continued its decades-long reign atop the Olympic women's basketball world on Sunday, beating host nation France in a 67-66 thriller to win an unbelievable eighth straight gold medal.

Kahleah Copper came up huge for the Americans when it mattered most at Bercy Arena. The Phoenix Mercury guard scored 10 of her 12 total points in the fourth quarter, helping the United States off an inspired French side that just wouldn't go away.

Though each of Copper's points in the final stanza loomed large, her pair of free throws with five seconds remaining is what made the ultimate difference.

After inbounding with no timeouts, France quickly advanced the ball up the floor before Gabby Williams hit a buzzer-beating runner with her foot on the three-point line, robbing the gold-medal game of overtime.

Needless to say, Copper played a massive role in the United States' crowning win in Paris.

Asked after the game to use one word to describe her Olympic teammate, Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson—who scored a game-high 21 points with gold on the line—instead opted for two that featured her typical, trademark flair.

Copper, the WNBA's second-leading scorer behind Wilson, is averaging 23.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this season while helping Phoenix, 13-12, to the sixth-best record in the league.

She and the Mercury are back in action on Thursday following the Olympic break with a matchup against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
