Speaking to reporters after leading Team USA to a gold medal win on Saturday, head coach Steve Kerr had one player to single out.

As Kerr finished his press conference, he pointed out that none of the reporters had asked about the play of Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker. Kerr made it a point to share some love for Booker, who he called the "unsung MVP" of the team.

“Devin Booker is an incredible basketball player,” Kerr said. “Nobody asked about him. He was our unsung MVP. I just wanted to say that.”

While it was LeBron James who took him Paris Olympics MVP honors from FIBA -- a rare award that has only been given twice since being instituted in 2004 -- Booker was one of the most steady and reliable players for Team USA.

Booker averaged 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in the Olympics, connecting on 56.8% of his shots from the field including a blistering 56.5% from behind the three-point arc.

In a team filled with older stars who could likely be aged out for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, the 27-year-old Booker could be a centerpiece of Team USA in the future.

“In four years, Devin Booker is a guy who can lead this team," commentator Dwyane Wade said.
