Do Bills Need Better Backup QB Plan?

It pays to have a backup quarterback who can win games in a pinch when something happens to their starting quarterback.

The Buffalo Bills should know all about that.

While Josh Allen has been as dependable a star quarterback as any in the league, the reality is that there may come a time when the Bills will need to rely on their immediate backup plan instead.

As of now, that means Mitchell Trubisky.

The former second-overall pick is back with the Bills after a two-year run with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In five starts with the Black and Gold, he went 2-5 while throwing eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

While he was serviceable during his time in his one run with Buffalo, Turbisky is far from a dependable player to trust as a starting quarterback at any point with the Bills in 2024.

There are available options in free agency that would better help the Bills as well. Former starters like Ryan Tannehill and Trevor Siemian are more dependable and can run the same offense that Josh Allen does.

More importantly, the Bills should be able to rely on them playing mistake-free football for the majority of game action.

It's something that Trubsiky hasn't been able to do throughout his NFL career.
