The United States' women's Olympic basketball team held off a late challenge from Team France on Sunday, securing the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics gold medal with a 67-66 win in Paris, France.

Team USA got 21 points from Las Vegas Aces star center A'ja Wilson along with 12 points each from Kelsey Plum and Kahleah Copper.

Noticeably absent from the scoring column was the WNBA's all-time leading scorer, Diana Taurasi.

Afterward, Taurasi decided to colorfully trash talk fellow women's hoops legend Sue Bird, on the day she passed the Seattle Storm legend for most gold medals all-time with six.

"Yeah, it's the only reason I came," Taurasi said about her record-setting medal win, which now ranks as the most all-time among all players male or female, besting the retired Bird's career mark of five gold medals.

Taurasi rested during Sunday's gold medal game. She did not play a minute.

The 42-year-old WNBA legend will need all the energy she can get this week with games scheduled against Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever and Angel Reese's Chicago Sky.
