Lamar Jackson Has Bold Pick For Top Dual-Threat QB In NFL History

Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson has already cemented his status as the superior dual-threat quarterback in today's NFL. However, he's not the first one.

On X, a football podcast posted an intriguing question: Cam Newton isn't available. Who is the best dual-threat QB in NFL history?

Jackson was game enough to answer by posting a GIF of Washington Redskins icon Doug Williams.

Williams achieved a handful of milestones during his illustrious career. He was the first Black quarterback drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft. In 1987, he became the first Black signal-caller to start and win a Super Bowl. He was also named the MVP of that same Super Bowl.

Despite breaking the glass ceiling and being a pioneer, Williams is one of the most underappreciated quarterbacks of all time. He's usually mentioned when the topic gets discussed online.

Recency bias would also point to Jackson, Newton or Michael Vick as the best dual-threat quarterback in NFL history.

The 27-year-old Jackson, a two-time MVP, could've easily picked himself. But he gave Williams his flowers, which earned praise from several fans.

"Lamar has elite ball knowledge," one commenter wrote.

    Some, however, were surprised.

"Lamar’s going to be shocked when he finds out Tom Brady has more career rushing yards than Doug Williams," another commenter pointed out.

Williams, who also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tallied 884 rushing yards in his 12-year career.

For his part, Jackson will try to carry the Ravens anew in the upcoming season, as he looks to finally win his first Super Bowl.
